Milo The Aggresive Spaniel
Milo is a 2 year old working spaniel that I visited in Highworth, Wiltshire. The problem with Milo was that he would not let his owners or visitors leave the house without a huge protest which had escalated to him physically biting and tearing clothes. But why? When you bring a working breed into your house you have to provide sufficient outlets each day. Without the right amount of enrichment dogs become frustrated and find outlets in other ways which is exactly what was happening here.
When dogs are frequently allowed to control our personal space or the environment they live in, they can become protective or controlling of it. This serves as an outlet for frustration to compensate for what they feel they need to be in control of.
The long term solution to resolving Milo’s unwanted behaviour is attached to the owners providing the right amount of fulfilment and enrichment each day. To get the ball rolling during the session, his owners needed to see that what they wanted to achieve was possible. To do this we worked on setting up basic rules and boundaries within the home which will start to provide basic rules and boundaries for Milo to follow and work up from there. As is clearly visible in the attached video Milo got the idea very quickly. To book in yourself if you are experiencing similar problems, follow the links on the site.
