Cotswolds animal home rescues orphaned pups

Four orphaned German Shepherd crossbreed puppies are beginning a new life after arriving at the Cotswolds Dogs & Cats Home.

The canine siblings were recently taken in by the registered charity after sadly losing their mother. Now settled into the haven, they have received names from staff based on characters from the latest Toy Story movie.

A representative of the home said that watching Woody, Trixie, Jessie and Bo playing with a football together, it was hard to imagine the heartbreak the pups had experienced. They added that since the loss of their mother, they have found sanctuary, love and many toys at the charity, but for a happy ending they needed support from the community.

Despite their difficult start, the puppies are reportedly thriving, curious and full of energy. While safe, the four young canines need crucial veterinary care before rehoming can happen. This includes flea and worm treatment, microchipping, vaccinations and neutering, and the home has appealed to the community for donations to help with the costs.

Rescue puppies sometimes experience early trauma and a lack of sufficient socialisation in their critical developmental stages. This can teach them to react defensively out of frustration, fear or a desire to find distance from unfamiliar triggers.
